Game Effect Challenge
About this challenge
We are excited to introduce the Game Effect Challenge – a three-month-long challenge for creators and VFX artists to showcase their creativity and technical skills in game effects. This challenge is the perfect opportunity to push your creativity to new heights, experiment with interactive mechanics, and build unique gaming experiences using Effect House.
In addition to the main challenge, we will introduce sub-challenges throughout its duration, giving you even more chances to win prizes and gain recognition.
What are sub-challenges?
Sub-challenges are mini challenges designed around the latest trends and viral effects, offering extra opportunities to show off your skills and win prizes. Each sub-challenge will focus on different themes of game effects, encouraging you to experiment with new mechanics, interactions, and visuals.
Sound Game Sub-Challenge
What we’re looking for
Use the Keyword Detection node to create a microphone game effect. Here are some inspiration:
- Control objects with sound! Pause, move, and navigate obstacles to reach the finish line
- Say the correct word, hit a note, or sing on cue to break through barriers and advance
- Add a fun twist! Try tongue twisters, sing along to lyrics, or dub a meme with your own voice.
Note: Download the latest version of Effect House to use the Keyword Detection node, as well as our newest tool features, templates, and assets!
Comic Game Sub-Challenge
What we’re looking for
Bring a cartoon-inspired twist to your game effects! Think:
- Animated heroes embarking on epic adventures
- Classic comic book elements like speech bubbles, action captions, or panel-style gameplay
- Hand-drawn or animated characters that create a fun and interactive experience

Prizes
Each sub-challenge will have 3 winners and a $1,000 cash prize.
Cash prizes will be distributed within the following month of the sub-challenge deadline date.
How to enter
- Download and create your effect using Effect House
- On the Publish Effect form, complete the required fields and select the sub-challenge you want to enter under Challenge
- Click Next to review your submission
- Click Submit and you’re all set!

Winners announcement date: Winners for each sub-challenge will be announced within two weeks of its deadline date
