About this challenge
We’ve teamed up with Duolingo, the world’s most downloaded gamified education app known for teaching 40+ languages, math, and music, for our inaugural Duolingo Effect Challenge! Create an original effect for one of the categories listed below for a chance at to win big cash prizes.
What we’re looking for
Game Effect
A Duolingo-inspired challenge or game effect incorporating Duolingo elements, Duo the Owl assets, or other characters from the Duolingo world
AR experience
Immerse users into the world of Duolingo
Character/avatar effect
Use Effect House features like Head Tracker and Body Avatar Drive to transform the user into Duo the Owl or other Duolingo characters
Make sure your effect doesn’t cover the creator’s face
New Duolingo assets
Upgrade to the latest version of Effect House to access the new Duolingo category in the Effect House Asset Library, which contains 2D and 3D assets you can use for this challenge. Plus, check back often because we’ll be adding more assets throughout the challenge. You can also download the following assets:

Diamond League Winner (1): $11,000 plus a large special-edition Duo plushie (Chosen for the best overall effect created for the Duolingo Effect Challenge)

How to enter
- Download and create your effect using Effect House.
- On the Publish Effect form, complete the required fields and select Duolingo Effect Challenge under Challenge.
- Click Next to review your submission.
- Click Submit and you’re all set!

Submission end date: June 21, 2024 at 11:59 PM PT

Visit here for full terms and conditions. No purchase necessary, void where prohibited. The Challenge Period is between May 22, 2024 at 10:00AM PDT to June 21, 2024 at 23:59PM PDT. Open to legal residents of a region where Effect House and TikTok are available and who are at least 18 years of age, or the age of majority, at the time of entry. Enter by submitting an effect as described in the terms between May 22, 2024 at 10:00AM PDT to June 21, 2024 at 23:59PM PDT. 20 winners will be selected by a panel of judges based on specific criteria set out in the terms. Username and profile picture of winners will be displayed. Reward: (1) 1 × USD$11000, (2) 1 × USD$5000, (3) 10 × $1000, (4) 8 × $500. Limit of one Reward per person/Challenge. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
