FAQ: Mobile Effect Creation

How do I create TikTok effects on my mobile device?​

You can create effects using templates or from scratch in the TikTok app. Learn more about the mobile effect editor.

Make sure you are not recording in photo or text mode to access the Create tab.

To create effects using templates:

  1. In the TikTok app, tap the Add new post [+] button
  2. Tap Effects
  3. Go to the Create tab and select a template of your choice
  4. Follow the prompts on the screen to customize the template

To create effects from scratch:

  1. In the TikTok app, tap the Add new post [+] button
  2. Tap Effects
  3. Tap Create
  4. Tap the Add new effect [+] button

Is TikTok's mobile effect creation tool available to everyone?​

Mobile effect creation using templates is available to all TikTok creators. Creating effects from scratch is currently only available in select regions but should be available to all soon.

What type of effects can I create on mobile?​

You can create and publish a variety of effects using templates, such as quizzes, color editors, filters, AI generators, and more.
